Located on Bathurst Street in the heart of Toronto’s Jewish community, Toronto’s Synagogue Beth Tzedec Congregation Temple played double-duty as a film set for several weeks between June-August of 2022. The Conservative synagogue, founded in 1955, was used to film both exterior and interior shots of Stacy’s Hebrew school throughout the film. Scenes include the front of the Temple on Warwick Ave., where Stacy and Lydia discuss whether they should invite Mateo to their Bat Mitzvas; Hebrew classes with the quirky Rabbi Rebecca, and hallway chats with peers. If you’re in the area, head down Bathurst for some fresh-baked kosher goodies from Hermes Bakery, or grab some groceries from Savours Fresh Market for affordably priced kosher provisions.

Stacy makes Canada proud by shopping for her Bat Mitzvah dress in the Hudson’s Bay (The Bay) at Sherway Gardens. The Bay is the flagship brand of the Hudson's Bay Company, the oldest, largest and longest-surviving company in North America. While Stacy’s mom buys her a modest dress, Stacy spots Lydia and her mother (played by Stacy’s real-life mom, Jackie Sandler) shopping in the same store. Shop ‘til you drop with a trip to the nearby Dixie Outlet Mall and browse over 100 retailers at fantastic prices. Then, head on down to The Loop Creamery on Lakeshore for a post-shopping sugar buzz from their famous frozen custard.
