The Polish train station where Lester and Nichka meet in Season 2 is actually Vancouver’s Pacific Central Station, a historic building which was first opened in 1919. Hop off the train, and you’ll be in Vancouver’s Olympic Village, a trendy neighbourhood with restaurants, shops, waterfront trails, and public art that was designed for the XXI Olympic Winter Games. After exploring the village, be sure to check out Science World, an interactive museum featuring several permanent exhibits, scientific displays, and a 400-seat Omnimax theater built into a geometric dome. After an exciting day of activities, head to Machete Mexican Ancestral Food for some delicious and authentic food that celebrates Mexican history, or enjoy some Spanish tapas and paella at Bodega on Main.
In the Season 2’s first episode, you can catch a glimpse of popular Vancouver landmark Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden while Owen has a dream on his flight to Seoul. Set in a unique Ming Dynasty-style venue, this magnificent garden and museum celebrates Chinese culture and heritage with a variety of events and cultural programing, including guided tours, concerts, festivals, exhibitions, receptions, and educational programs. Those looking to immerse themselves even more in Chinese culture can head to the nearby Chinese Cultural Centre Museum and Chinese Canadian Museum, or head over to Chinatown Plaza to explore a variety of authentic shops and restaurants. While in the area, make sure to also check out The Keefer Bar, a fun apothecary themed bar that serves up incredible cocktails and small sharing plates inspired by east Asian cuisine.
While trying to clear his head in Seoul, Owen heads to a local bar to watch Yoo Jin’s band play, and later confesses that he works for the FBI. While exterior shots of the bar were filmed on location in Seoul, the inside shots were filmed at the Astoria Hotel, a historic building that now operates as a bar and events space. After listening to some live music at the Astoria, head to Prototype Coffee to grab a delicious coffee made with freshly roasted beans, then take a stroll through scenic Strathcona Park and take in the flowers at Strathcona Community Garden. Afterwards, head to Ask for Luigi for some delicious hand-made pasta, served family style in a cozy space.
