The stunning oceanside vistas showcasing small jagged islands in Episode 4 are located in West Vancouver’s famous Whytecliff Park. This rugged coastline features spectacular views of the mountains, plenty of walking and hiking trails to explore the flora and fauna of British Columbia, and is known as one of the best scuba diving spots in the province. The Whytecliff Park Scuba Diving Site features spots for both experienced and novice divers to view aquatic creatures like rockfish, lingcod, crab, sculpin, anemones, starfish, harbour seals, wolf eels, and giant octopus. In low tides or with a quick boat ride, you can even head over to the Whyte Islet featured in the series to take in an incredible view of the pacific sunset. If you are looking for some snacks to bring with you to the park, make sure to stop in at Goldie’s Donuts and Bakery in Horseshoe Bay for some coffee and gourmet donuts.
During a flashback in Episode 1, where Crystal first falls for her demonic ex-boyfriend, David outside of a concert venue, you can see signs for the iconic Vancouver pubs The Lamplighter Public House and Clough Club. Both institutions are named after local legend John Clough, who lit up the street lamps every night in Gastown. The Lamplighter Public House features authentic pub plates and live entertainment in a historic venue with stained glass windows and exposed brick. Right next door, Clough Club is a trendy lounge featuring award winning cocktails, small plates, and live music. Those looking to explore the darker side of Gastown can also head to the Monaco Cafe and embark on Forbidden Vancouver Walking Tours’ Lost Souls of Gastown Walking Tour; a unique performance-theatre experience guiding visitors through some of Victorian Gastown’s earliest history.
The iconic Tongue & Tail Butcher Shop, seen throughout the series as the headquarters of the Dead Boy Detectives Agency, can be found on Vancouver’s famous Cambie Street in Gastown. While the Tongue & Tail is only a film set and does not operate as an actual business, you can take in the unique exterior as you explore this historic neighborhood. Right next door, you can find the Take Out Shack, which serves up delicious smashburgers and decadent milkshakes, as well as The Cambie Pub, a historic pub and hostel that is one of Vancouver’s oldest and longest running bars. In nearby Yaletown, head to one of the city’s best butcher shops Luigi & Sons, with an incredible selection of produce and steaks curated from some of the best local and international suppliers.
