In episode 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, Aang and the gang head to an underground fight known as the “Earth Rumble” which locals may recognize as the Britannia Mine Museum. Set within a National Historic Site, the museum brings British Columbia's mining history to life through underground train rides, interactive exhibits and the award-winning BOOM! experience inside the historic mill building. Visitors can also try gold panning and explore the former copper mine that once played a major role in the province's industrial development, making it a fun and educational stop for all ages. After exploring the museum, head for a sweet treat at Kawartha Dairy. This local outpost of the beloved Canadian ice cream maker is the perfect place to grab a cone while strolling through the revitalized waterfront village. When it's time for lunch or dinner, settle in at Autostrada Britannia Beach Oyster Bar and Grill. Located in the beautifully restored Britannia Village, the restaurant pairs fresh West Coast ingredients with stunning views of Howe Sound. From seafood and handmade pasta to incredible burgers, it's become one of Sea-to-Sky's standout dining destinations. To round out your visit, make your way to Britannia Beach Scenic Lookout. Overlooking the waters of Howe Sound, the lookout offers sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, coastline and historic mining community below. It's the perfect place to pause, take in the scenery and appreciate why this stretch of highway is considered one of the most beautiful drives in Canada.
